P0122 — Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Low
P0122 means the throttle position sensor signal is below its expected range. On drive-by-wire cars this often triggers limp mode, so treat it as urgent.
Cost range: $100–$600. Severity: high. Safe to drive? Not recommended. Sudden loss of throttle response or limp mode can happen without warning.
Most common causes of P0122
- Failed throttle position sensor — Often non-serviceable and replaced with the throttle body. ($150–$600)
- Damaged or shorted TPS wiring — Check the harness where it flexes near the engine. ($80–$250)
- Corroded connector — Water intrusion at the throttle body plug. ($0–$60)
