P0112 — Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
P0112 means the intake air temperature sensor is reporting an implausibly low voltage — the ECM reads it as extremely hot air. Usually a shorted circuit or a failed sensor.
Cost range: $40–$250. Severity: low. Safe to drive? Yes. Expect slightly worse fuel economy and possible hard cold starts.
Most common causes of P0112
- Short to ground in the IAT wiring — Chafed harness near the intake is common. ($80–$200)
- Failed IAT sensor — Often integrated into the MAF assembly on modern cars. ($40–$200)
- Corroded connector — Clean and re-seat before buying parts. ($0–$40)
Symptoms drivers report with P0112
- Check engine light
- Slightly rough cold start
- Minor fuel economy drop
