Why does my car shake when I stop?

Shake that only shows up in the last few feet of braking is usually a different problem from highway brake shake. At low speeds, look at: (1) bad motor mounts that let the engine rock when load shifts forward, (2) a rough idle that becomes obvious once you stop moving, or (3) severely worn rotors finally bottoming out. If the engine shake disappears in neutral, it's a mount or idle issue, not the brakes.
