Why do my brakes squeal?
Brake squeal is almost always one of two things: (1) the wear-indicator tab — a small metal tab built into the pad that scrapes the rotor on purpose when pads get thin, or (2) glazed/dirty pads that vibrate at a high frequency. If the squeal goes away when you brake harder, it's the wear indicator and you have a few weeks. If it gets worse under heavy braking, get it checked now.
